RAMALLAH, July 3, 2025 (WAFA) – Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa met on Thursday with Muayyad Shaaban, Head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, along with a delegation from the Commission, to discuss strengthening emergency interventions in targeted areas, particularly in Masafer Yatta and the Jordan Valley, and enhancing political, diplomatic, and on-the-ground efforts to counter Israeli settlement expansion.
The meeting, also attended by Cabinet Secretary-General Dawas Dawas, emphasized the importance of supporting Palestinian resilience and unifying national efforts around peaceful popular resistance to thwart Israel’s plans for annexation, land seizure, and forced displacement.
During the meeting, Shaaban presented the Commission's 2024 Annual Report, which details a significant escalation in Israeli violations across the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem. According to the report:
- Israeli authorities confiscated 46,597 dunums of Palestinian land under various pretexts, including nature reserve declarations, military seizure orders, and state land claims.
- 684 demolition operations were carried out, resulting in the destruction of 903 structures, including homes, agricultural facilities, and public buildings.
- The report recorded 16,612 violations against Palestinians and their property throughout 2024, including 13,641 incidents committed by the Israeli military and 2,934 by settler militias.
- These assaults resulted in the killing of 522 Palestinians in the West Bank and Jerusalem, while settlers killed an additional 10 civilians.
- Israeli forces and settlers carried out 451 attacks targeting Palestinian trees, uprooting a total of 14,212 trees, including 10,459 olive trees.
For May 2025 alone, the report documented:
- 1,691 attacks, including the uprooting of 1,068 trees, among them 695 olive trees.
- The seizure of 48 dunums of land through seven military orders.
- 74 demolitions, affecting 121 structures, including 60 inhabited homes and 37 agricultural buildings.
Prime Minister Mustafa stressed the need for coordinated action across Palestinian institutions and called for intensified international diplomatic engagement to expose and counter Israel’s annexation plans and the escalating settler violence against Palestinian communities.
