RAMALLAH, August 18, 2013 (WAFA) - Egypt’s turbulence amid ongoing clashes
between the Muslim Brotherhood’s supporters and the Egyptian Security Forces
dominated the three Palestinian Arabic dailies.
Al-Quds daily’s front page headline
read: “The Egyptian government discusses a suggestion to resolve the
Brotherhood” and “Security forces evict protesters from al-Fatah Mosque by
force.”
Al-Ayyam reported on the Egyptian
presidency saying: “We are facing a depletion war.. And we will win.”
The three papers printed photos of
the eviction of the Muslim Brotherhood’s supporters from al-Fatah Mosque after
the later took shelter in it for hours amid on and off clashes with the
Egyptian security.
Al-Quds focused on the Palestinian
Authority expressing concern over the US’s role in the peace talks as media
sources reported that the US mediator was not present during the first session
of talks on Wednesday.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida featured president
Mahmoud Abbas saying, upon receiving Arab football teams, that struggling
through sports is an essential part of Palestinian’s struggle to achieve independence
and establish their sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Al-Ayyam quoted political analysts and
officials saying that Israel is worried of the turmoil in Egypt despite of its silence.
The daily also reported on Israel
aiming to expand settlement construction in Jerusalem using a new pretext,
which is protecting buildings from earthquakes, as such plan would make substantial
changes to the city’s map.
