RAMALLAH, July 26, 2012 (WAFA) – Al-Quds daily Thursday highlighted recommendations by a special presidential committee that investigated the Ramallah police crackdown against peaceful protesters.
The committee was set up to investigate excessive use of force against protesters who were demonstrating against a planned visit by Israeli deputy Prime Minister Shaul Mofaz to Ramallah. It recommended that all security members involved are to stand trial for harming unarmed citizens.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported on Arab countries at the United Nations condemning ongoing Israeli settlement activities in the West Bank and calling on the Security Council to let Israel allow a delegation to visit the Palestinian Territory.
It quoted President Mahmoud Abbas saying that Israel’s persistence with settlement activities means that the Palestinians will have no choice but to seek the United Nations.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida printed photos of a Palestinian family from Janba, a small village near Hebron, which the Israeli army wants to raze along with another seven locales to use the area military exercises.
