RAMALLAH, July 27, 2012 (WAFA) – Prime minister Salam Fayyad Tuesday called for an immediate international and European intervention to compel Israel to revoke its decision to demolish eight locales in Hebron city.
During a meeting with of the president of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists & Democrats in the European Parliament, Hannes Swoeoda, and European Union Representative to the Palestinian Territory John Gatt-Rutter, in Ramallah, Fayyad stressed the seriousness of this decision, which if implemented, will displace around 1500 Palestinians; in an attempt to seize the land.
He stressed the need to activate the role of the European Union through activating the EU ministerial declarations of 2009 and 2010.
The EU declaration made a clear legal reference to the peace process and took a clear position regarding the 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as the capital of the future Palestinian state.
Fayyad also discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian Territory and the Israeli violations against the Palestinian people and their legal national rights.
