BERN, May 30, 2012 (WAFA) - Migros company, one of Switzerland's biggest supermarket chains, said it plans to label Israeli goods produced in Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, said Migros spokesperson on Tuesday.
Migros said while it does not support boycott calls made against settlement products, it wants to offer customers greater transparency and to let them decide which products they want to buy, as the Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian Territory are considered illegal under the international law and by the Swiss government and the United Nations.
Migros decision follows Denmark and South Africa’s recent decisions that all goods produced in the illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank should have clear label of origin on them in order to differentiate them from products made in Israel proper.
