CAIRO, September 4, 2011 (WAFA) – Nabil al-Arabi, Secretary General of the Arab League, Sunday called on all the Arab countries to support Turkish plans to take the issue of the Israeli attack on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla and the siege on Gaza to the United Nations General Assembly and to the International Court of Justice.
He said in a press conference that Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmed Davutoglu told him the next Turkish step will be heading to the General Assembly.
He added that all the Arab countries have responsibilities, as being part of the Geneva Convention, to support the Turkish move to get the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to issue an advisory opinion regarding the Israeli blockade imposed on Gaza.
He condemned the UN’s Palmer commission report, describing it as ‘shameful’ and said that the report is inconsistent with the general laws and does not reflect on the reality of what is on ground in the besieged Gaza strip.
