Abbas: ‘We will go to UN if Negotiations Fail’

RAMALLAH, July 7, 2011 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas Thursday stressed that the Palestinian Authority’s choice is peace through negotiations but if that fails the Palestinians will go to the UN in order to obtain a full-fledged membership in the international organization.

Abbas, in a meeting with a delegation of religious men in Ramallah, stressed the need not to miss the opportunity to achieve peace between the Palestinian and Israeli people.

The delegation was composed of Rabbi David Malkior, head of the Adam centre for civilizations dialogue and former minister, Sheikh Abdullah Nimr Darwish, a leader of the Islamic movement in Israel, as well as the Greek Orthodox Patriarch Theophilos III.

They stressed that their main mission is to form a coalition of different religions in order to support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders and to achieve the desired peace.
