Palestinian Youth Parliament Meets with Arab Youth Media Forum

RAMALLAH, March 20, 2011 (WAFA) - Members of the Palestinian Youth Parliament Sunday met with a delegation from  Arab youth Media Forum who is visiting Palestine for the first time, carrying the “ Palestine Letter” from Palestine to the Arab world, in Ramallah.

Mousa al-Abasi, President of the Parliament welcomed the delegation and thanked them for their visit.

 Coordinator of International Relations of the Parliament, Ra’ed al-Deb’ei, talked about the establishment of the parliament, the difficulties which the parliament faced since its launching, its role in the Palestinian national issues and the process towards the independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Vice President of the Parliament, Nezar al-Ajouri, delivered a verbal letter to the delegation to be carried to the Arab countries to support the Palestinian diplomatic and popular stances as well as he asked the delegation to continue with these initiatives in cooperating with the parliament as well as the Palestinian youth.

On his part, the Media Spokesman of the Parliament, Ala’ al-Je’di praised the Arab youth’s role  and support for the Palestinian youth in demanding an end to division.

Ahmed Abed Rabbu, a member of Gaza youth Parliament stressed on the need to form a youth delegation to visit the Gaza Strip and deliver this message to the people there, saying” Palestine is like a Phoenix bird; Gaza is one of its wings and the West Bank is the other, and it can’t fly with one wing”.

 

President of The Arab youth Media Forum, Haytham Yousef, talked about the reasons for visiting Palestine, saying that the delegation was carrying a message to President Mahmoud Abbas which is called the “  Palestine Letter”  from Palestine to the entire Arab world'.

He added that the letter contains three main themes, namely: ending the division, lifting the siege on Gaza, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

this visit will not be the first and last and it will be a prelude to the beginning of media and youth cooperation and exchange between the Forum and the Parliament, he said.

The delegation who included youth journalists from: Jordan, Tunisia, Iraq and Palestinian Diaspora

their pleasure of the warm welcome and delight of their visit to Palestine for the first time, confirming that they will spend Mother's Day in Palestine beside the mothers of martyrs and prisoners, in recognition of the sacrifices and the Palestinian steadfastness.

Palestinian Youth Parliament  thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports for their  sponsorship of this meeting, and for  their continuing  support to the parliament.

 At the end of the meeting the two sides exchanged medals.
