LONDON, March 7, 2011 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas met on Monday evening with former British Foreign Secretary, David Miliband, in London.
Abbas discussed with Miliband the latest developments in the region and the stalled peace process due to Israeli intransigence.
Abbas is scheduled to meet on Tuesday with British Prime Minister, David Cameron and with Foreign Minister, William Hague.
President Abbas arrived in the British capital, on Sunday evening, heading a delegation in a two-day visit at the invitation of British Prime Minister Cameron.
Abbas's meeting with Cameron is of high importance; especially that it coincides with the British proposals to move the peace process forward and follows the non-traditional UK decision to vote for the condemnation of Israeli settlement in the Security Council. In addition to the fact that it comes on the eve of the Quartet meeting in Paris next week amid the clear Palestinian demands to issue a strong statement from the Quartet that supports the establishment of a Palestinian state within the1967 borders and the condemnation of Israeli settlement policies.
