Israel Seizes 9 Water Tanks in Khirbet Tana

NABLUS, March 7, 2011 (WAFA) – The Israeli army Monday seized nine drinking water tanks from residents of Khirbet Tana, a locale east of Nablus.

Soldiers raided the tiny locale and seized the tanks which Palestinians living there used to store drinking water, according to Akram Hanani, head of nearby Beit Furik municipality.

He said that the soldiers took the tanks to Mekhura, a nearby Jewish settlement, in preparation for their transfer to settlements near Qalqilya, a city west of Nablus. They also fined the tanks’ owners under pretexts of their presence in military areas.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society and other organizations donated tents to Tana residents to replace the tents removed by Israelis, who recently destroyed tents and livestock barns in Khirbet Tana for six consecutive times and declared a closed military zone to force its residents to leave it.
