NABLUS, February 20, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli bulldozers Sunday destroyed Khirbet Tana, a locale east of Nablus in the northern West Bank, for the fifth time, only a week after the last time.
Khirbet Tana was last destroyed on February 13.
Ghassan Daghlas, Palestinian official responsible for the settlement file in the northern West Bank, said that Israeli bulldozers brought down makeshift houses and barns and Israeli authorities confiscated a tractor.
The destruction targeted the areas which were rebuilt by the Palestinian Authority, as 13 of the makeshift houses donated by the PA to support the citizens were destroyed, he added.
Khirbet Tana is one kilometer away from Makhwara agriculture settlement, which was built in 1969 over 10,000 confiscated donums of Beit Fourik village.
Israel has destroyed many Palestinian locales and grazing areas along the Jordan Valley.
Prime Minister Salam Fayyad condemned the destruction of Khirbet Tana, saying 'such actions deserve the use of a US veto against Israeli settlements, destruction and aggression practiced daily against Palestinians, the last of which was the destruction of Khirbet Tana for the fifth time…this is barbaric and destructive.'
