It said Hamas detained six of the journalists as were reporting on sit-in on Monday organized by local youth in solidarity with the Egyptian people.
PJS said “this blatant abuse comes with the escalation of attacks and restrictions on the operation the media and journalists to dissuade them from their duties.” It called on the Hamas forces to desist from such practices.
It said Hamas attacked Razan Al-Madhoun, winner of the Golden Award at the Gaza Documentary Films Festival, Rami Murad, a presenter in Sout Al Shaab radio, Blogger Iba’ Zulfakar Soirgio, Nazek Abu-Rahma, Al Jazeera Talk correspondent, and Fares Al-Goul.
The correspondent of Skies Center for Media Freedom, Asma’ Al-Goul, said in her statement for the PJS that she was hit and her hair was pulled by the Hamas female police, and she was detained with her colleagues for five hours.
Hamas security asked them initially to sign a pledge to abide by customs and morals then to sign another pledge in not engaging unauthorized protests. Fares Al-Goul said that they also confiscated his press card.
