RAMALLAH, January 27, 2011 (WAFA) – Construction and road costs increased in 2010 compared to the previous year, Monday said the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PSBS).
It said the construction cost index reached 109.36 in 2010 with an increase of 1.57% from the previous year.
Road cost index increased by 3.75% in 2010 compared to the previous year to reach 107.39, it said.
According to PCBS, the overall prices of construction materials reached 110.58 with an increase of 0.73%.
Index of prices of road construction materials, water networks materials and sewage networks materials reached 108.36, 104.36 and 102.62 with an increase of 0.48%, 0.66%, 0.05%, respectively, during December compared with November.
The increase in the construction cost Index is due to changes in the prices of construction materials such as the increase in prices of iron and steel which amount to 3.56%, cement products by 0.15% and cutting and shaping stones by 0.25%.
Rise of water networks cost is due to changes in materials prices such as construction work and paint materials which increased by 0.32% and concrete prices, which increased by 0.06%.
