JERUSALEM, January 31, 2011 (WAFA) – A group of Israelis Monday assaulted a Palestinian from the Old City of Jerusalem, according to a family member of the beaten Palestinian.

Nidal Yusri Sabbah, 24, was hospitalized after being severely beaten while he was on his way home from his night work.

Sabbah’s brother said that Nidal was getting into his car when an Israeli asked him for a cigarette only to find out that Sabbah is Palestinian. The Israeli called out for a group of settlers who attacked Sabbah severely beating him.

An Israeli police car passing by stopped the attackers and informed Sabbah’s family of his condition after he was taken to hospital. The family said Sabbah was in moderate condition.

This attack is the latest in a series of attacks by Israelis against Arabs apparently on racial background.
