Jewish Group Issues Kosher Certificates to Arab-Free Shops

TEL AVIV, January 26, 2011 (WAFA) – A Jewish right-wing religious group issued kosher certificates to Israeli shops that refuse to employ Arabs, Israeli media said on Wednesday.

The group, which calls itself Lapid (the torch) works to fight Jewish exposure to foreign cultures, and has participated lately in demonstrations against selling and leasing property to Arabs.

Wives of its right wing religious figures also sent out messages to Jewish girls not to get romantically involved with Arabs.

The Arab-Jewish Democratic Front for Peace and Equality (Hadash) Wednesday submitted a bill to Israeli parliament, the Knesset, calling for equality in housing for Arabs and Jews in apparent opposition to recent racist campaigns against Arabs in Israel.
