Abbas: Al Jazeera Mixed Between Israeli, Palestinian Positions

CAIRO, January 24 2011 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas said on Monday  in Cairo that “the report aired by Al Jazeera is an intentional mixing between the many Israeli  proposals and the Palestinian positions.” He described this as “shameful.”

Abbas said in a press conference after his meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak that the report presented Israeli documents as Palestinian ones aiming to mislead the public.

“We do not have anything secret to hide;” said Abbas. “All our negotiations and meetings and every issue discussed were presented to Arab countries with documents.”

Abbas said he discussed with Mubarak many issues mainly contacts regarding the political process, where it stands now and what are the proposals that could sustain such a political process.

“The US does not have any answer yet,” he said. “We agreed to proceed with the Security Council ( anti- settlement) resolution which is now in a blue print, meaning that it is coming up for a vote.”

Abbas said the European position was important and advanced, but that Europe cannot replace the US and does not want to.

Abbas also condemned those who were behind the recent attack at a church in Alexandria.
