TEL AVIV, January 23, 2011 (WAFA)- An Israeli official in the Foreign Ministry said that the right-wing minister Avigdor Liberman has prepared a map for a Palestinian state with provisional borders.
According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, Liberman says Israel must take the diplomatic initiative by proposing a Palestinian state within provisional borders. This would preempt international recognition of such a state inside the 1967 borders, reduce international pressure on Israel and transfer at least part of the pressure to the Palestinians.
The Israeli official pointed out that the map maintains the status quo on the ground with minor adjustments.
