RAMALLAH, January 18, 2011 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Cabinet approved the formation Monday of a committee to implement the memorandum of understanding between Palestine and the World Intellectual Property Organization, according to government sources.
The Ministry of National Economy will implement the agreement which is the first of its kind and aims to help Palestine in protecting intellectual property and benefiting from developed countries’ experience.
Work will commence to develop Palestinian employees specialized in piracy, trademark forging and patents, in addition to developing the judiciary in looking into intellectual property cases, through workshops and courses for prosecutors.
Palestine is an observer in the World Intellectual Property Organization since 2005.
