Israeli Army Injures Worker in Gaza

GAZA, January 16, 2011 (WAFA) - Medical sources said Sunday that a Palestinian citizen was shot and injured by the Israeli army at Beit Hanoon in the north of the Gaza strip.

The source said that the twenty year old worker was collecting gravel near the fence separating northern Gaza when soldiers shot him in his left foot. He was transferred to Al Shifa hospital with moderate injuries.

This incident brings the number of citizens shot by the Israeli army to 110 since last February. Three of those shot died.

Israeli forces prohibit Palestinians from accessing the 300 meter wide security area set up along Gaza's borders.
