NEGEV, January 16, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli bulldozers Sunday morning destroyed Al-A’qareeb village in the Negev for the 9th time.
Israeli police used live bullets against village residents who gathered to stop the destruction. Ten Palestinians were wounded.
The last attempt to destroy Al-A’qareeb village was in August 2010. The village is one of 45 villages in the Negev unrecognized by Israel.
Palestinian Arab residents have applied for property registration of thousands of acres but Israel refused and issued a court order to evict and destroy the village. Villagers continued to rebuild their houses after each demolition.
