JERUSALEM, January 9, 2011 (WAFA) - Israeli forces raided the residence of the head of the Committee for the Defense of Silwan, Fakhri Abu Diab, early Sunday and arrested his son.
Abu Diab told WAFA that the forces thoroughly searched his residence, damaging some of its contents, and arrested his 18-year-old son.
He said recent arrests in Silwan were “both unjust and illegal.”
Israeli authorities arrested a number of Silwan residents who were allegedly involved in demonstrations and protests against plans to demolish Silwan homes and replace them with a Jewish park.
Abu Diab added: “Israel will fabricate charges against them and against anyone who protests the expulsion of Silwan residents.”
