LONDON, November 2, 2009 (WAFA)- The Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), Britain’s largest organisation campaigning for solidarity with the Palestinian people, today sent an open letter to Foreign Secretary, David Miliband, urging the UK to take a stand for human rights when the Goldstone Report is discussed by the UN General Assembly later this week.
The Assembly will debate on Wednesday (4 November) whether to pass a resolution approving the report and requesting it to be taken up by the UN Security Council in a formal debate.
The report, which examines Israel’s attack on Gaza in December 2008/January 2009, was endorsed by the UN General Assembly in October, but there is a danger that its recommendations of prosecutions for alleged war crimes will be ignored if it is not taken further.
