Haniyya Assures Israelis: Hamas Wants to End Blood Bath


GAZA, March 26, 2006 (WAFA) - Prime Minister-designate Ismael Haniyya assured Israelis on Sunday that Hamas Movement wants to end "the blood bath" in the region, asserting that the Movement is not against the Jews.... Haniyya's statements came during a meeting with journalists at his office in Gaza. He said "some parties say that Hamas will widen the Palestinian-Israeli crisis, but I say that we might be the start of a solution.... He renewed the new government's commitment to the Cairo Agreement, stressing that the PLO is the umbrella of the Palestinian people, but "it needs to be reactivated.... Haniyya denied the rumors that the there are differences between President Mahmoud Abbas and him, pointing out the President Abbas assured him that the new government should enjoy powers like all previous governments.... He called upon the Arab Summit in Khartoum to support the Palestinian people, politically, financially and economically, saying that the Arab Summit was asked to present $130 millions every month in aid to the Palestinian people....
