Palestinian People Commemorates the Land Day
GAZA, March 30, 2004, (WAFA)- Palestinian people inside the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) and Israel have commemorated Tuesday the 28th anniversary of the Land Day, expressing their adherence to their Land.... In the OPT, various Palestinian political forces organized rallies to commemorate the 28th memory of the Land Day.... Thousands of Palestinian citizens, students, labourers and officials participated in separate rallies gathering in the main squares of different cities of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.... Several marches moved from various sites and gathered in the Unknown Soldier Square, in Gaza City waving the Palestinian flags.... Minister of Justice, Nahed al-Rayyes, said in an address delivered in the rally, that the memory of the Land Day proves that the Palestinian people have been suffering from the continued Israeli occupation and aggressions on Man and land.... "Todays message to the world is to show the Palestinian loyalty and committed to their land," Kamal al-Shirafi, PLC member told WAFA.... Demonstrators denounced the Israeli construction of the Apartheid Wall and the policy of extra-judicially execution, including the latest assassination of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin.... In a statement, The High Following-up Committee condemned the Israeli terror and called on the international community to stop the Israeli brutalities against innocent Palestinian citizens and to halt grabbing the Palestinian land.... "Today we commemorate the six Palestinian innocent victims killed by Israeli occupation, and protest against the Israeli terror," Mohammed Ali, one of the participants in the rally told WAFA.... In the Arab cities in Israel, thousands of Palestinian citizens poured into the streets of Um al-Fahem, Sakhneen, Nazareth, and different villages, in peaceful demonstrations commemorating the Land Day and protesting the Israeli terrorism against the Palestinian people in the OPT.... The demonstrations have been organized by the "The High Follow-up Committee of the Arab Citizens in Israel" which declared on Monday a strike to mark the Land Day.... The routine of the daily life in the Arab cities has completely changed as factories, stores, schools and universities responded to the appeal of the committees, WAFA reporter said.... In different cities and villages, the participants in the rallies raised black and white posters of the six Palestinian citizens murdered by Israeli troops, 28 years ago.... Participants also waved flags of Palestine and chanted slogans condemning the ongoing Israel policy of killing and the seizure of the Palestinian Land in the OPT as well as in the Arab cities in Israel.... The central rally has moved from the village of Arrabeh where six Palestinian citizens were murdered in cold blood by Israeli troops 28 years ago.... Thousands of demonstrators called for ending the Israeli crimes against the Palestinian citizens and for releasing the Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons.... In the village of Kufr Kana, north of Nazareth, hundreds of citizens participated in the strike headed to the al-Shuhada Cemetery, observed a minute of silence and called for ending Israeli atrocities against the Palestinian people.... "I come her to participate in the Land Day and to say that we will never leave our home land… we are eager for peace," a little girl told WAFA reporter, as she put a flower on a grave.... The demonstration was organized as Israeli authorities decided, on March 29, 1976, to confiscate tens of thousands of Donums in the Palestinian towns north of Israel particularly in 'Arrabeh and Sakhneen....
