President Arafat Calls for Road Map Implementation
RAMALLAH, March 3, 2004, (WAFA)- President Yasser Arafat stressed yesterday the necessity to implement the Road Map peace plan.... In his meeting, at his Presidency in Ramallah, with Arab Ambassadors and foreign Consuls to Palestinian National Authority, Arafat stressed the necessity of a complete Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip which has to be accompanied with and followed by a similar withdrawal from the West Bank as the Road Map dictates.... Asked about the Sharon’s unilateral withdrawal from Gaza, Arafat said that such a withdrawal should be accompanied with and followed by withdrawals from the West Bank in line with the Tenet Understandings, Michel Report and the Road Map peace plan approved by the UN Security Council resolution No.1515.... "We are shocked as they (the Israelis) say they think of withdrawing from parts of Gaza, and not from all Gaza, by the beginning of 2005, they want to keep some colonies and, the same time, reoccupy Bethlehem", he added.... Arafat also pointed out that the Israelis constructed hundreds of houses inside the colonies in contrary to the accords demanding them not to keep any "caravan or colony" since 1998.... --
