RAMALLAH, Tuesday, December 31, 2019 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas lit this evening at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah the torch marking the 55th anniversary for the launch of Fatah movement and the contemporary Palestinian revolution.

The annual ceremony was attended by members of the Executive Committees of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Fatah Central Committee and its Revolutionary Council, in addition to representatives of the various political factions.

Speaking before lighting the torch, President Abbas congratulated the Palestinian people on the occasion of the 55th anniversary for the launch of the contemporary Palestinian revolution, Fatah movement, the New Year and the Christmas holiday.

He asserted that the revolution that was launched in 1965 continues today and will continue until victory is achieved. "Many expected us to fail on the first day or the first year,” he said. “There were many conspiracies against us, and we believed that we have ended. But we were able to come out from under the ashes to continue."
