Israeli forces injure Palestinian in clashes north of Ramallah

RAMALLAH, January 7, 2018 (WAFA) – A Palestinian young man was injured when Israeli forces fired rubber-coated steel bullets at him, during clashes that broke out near Birzeit University to the north of Ramallah in the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

PRC said the young man was moderately injured by rubber-coated bullets in his waist, which Israeli soldiers fired when clashes erupted in al-Mazra’a ash-Sharqiya near the university.

Soldiers used teargas to disperse the protesters, but there were no reports of suffocation cases.

Relative calm has prevailed throughout the past two weeks after about four weeks of increasing tension across the occupied Palestinian territories, fueled by US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital in early December 2017.
