Jerusalem resident tears down own home to avoid high Israeli municipality fines

JERUSALEM, December 23, 2017 (WAFA) – A Palestinian family residing in East Jerusalem was forced on Saturday to tear down its own home to avoid paying exorbitant amounts in fines and demolition costs to the Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem, according to WAFA correspondent.

He said the Abu Rajab family tore down its home in the Bustan area of Silwan, an East Jerusalem neighborhood, after it was warned that municipal crews would demolish it and force the family to pay high costs.

The all-Israeli municipality claimed the Abu Rajab family did not have a building permit.
