RAMALLAH, Monday, July 29, 2019 (WAFA) – The Israeli army destruction of a tourism, project in the archeological town of Sebastia in the north of the occupied West Bank was highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies today.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam made this topic its main front page story while al-Hayat al-Jadida published it in the bottom half of the page. They said the tourism project was funded by the Belgian Development Cooperation and the Palestinian municipalities’ fund.
In addition, the papers reported on the vandalism by Israeli extremists in the Arab town of Kufr Qassem inside Israel. The vandalism, by the Jewish Price Tag terror group, included slashing tires of cars and writing racist graffiti in Hebrew on walls.
Al-Quds said Palestinians set up tents near the rubble of the buildings in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sur Baher Israel has demolished last week. It also said five Israeli settlement projects are underway in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied Jerusalem.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida made its front page story a statement by the Palestinian presidency denouncing what it described as the voices that talk negatively about Arab countries while praising support of the Arab countries for the Palestinian cause.
It also quoted Fatah official, Mahmoud Aloul, saying the decision to suspend the agreements with Israel is intended to break away from the occupation.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Palestinian Authority, in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh, is discussing legal ways to get its money back from Israel.
It said in another story quoting Israeli reports that Israel intends to seize half a billion Israeli shekels from the Palestinian tax funds to cover debt for the Israeli electricity company.
Al-Quds said Palestine’s pilgrims were stuck on the Saudi border with Jordan since Saturday awaiting permission and paper work to reach Makkah for the annual pilgrimage.
