CAIRO, Monday, July 22, 2019 (WAFA) – The Arab League condemned Monday the demolitions carried out by Israel in Wadi al Hummus area, southeast of Jerusalem.
This crime is a blatant and escalating aggression targeting the Palestinian people in Jerusalem in an unprecedented manner, Saeed Abu Ali, Arab League assistant secretary general for Palestine affairs and occupied Arab territories, said in a statement.
He added that the aggression is a continuation of the Israeli policy of forced displacement of Palestinians from the city.
Abu Ali stressed that what is happening in Jerusalem is a war crime and ethnic cleansing, adding that this forced displacement is the most dangerous in a series of crimes that have been going on for decades.
He pointed out that the targeted buildings fall within the Area A and meet all official licenses and documents.
He called on the international community and its institutions, particularly the UN Security Council and the International Criminal Court (ICC), to intervene to force Israel to stop its crimes and to hold it accountable for these crimes.
Israeli authorities started early today demolition of 10 Palestinian buildings, containing some 70 apartments, in Wadi al Hummus.
The majority of the buildings are located in Area A and B of the West Bank where, according to the Oslo Accords, all civil issues are under the jurisdiction of the Palestinian Authority.
