RAMALLAH, Wednesday, July 17, 2019 (WAFA) – Heavy to extreme heat stress is set to prevail on Wednesday, paving the way to very hot and dry conditions along with a significant rise of temperature which approaches 9°C above the seasonal average, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Wind is southwesterly to westerly, light to moderate, active and dusty at times. Sea waves are low to medium.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 37°C and a low of 24°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 36°C and a low of 23°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 46°C and a low of 29°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 37°C and a low of 25°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

PMD expects the heat wave to regress on Thursday, paving the way to a significant drop in temperature which approaches 2°C above the seasonal average. Therefore, partially cloudy and relatively warm to warm conditions are expected.

Friday’s weather is mild in mountainous districts and relatively warm to warm in other districts with a slight drop of temperature.

No significant change is expected in Saturday’s temperature with mild conditions in mountainous districts and relatively warm to warm conditions in other districts.

PMD warns people against direct exposure to sunlight on Wednesday, especially during the peak hours between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm, as well as against setting fire to areas where dry grass has grown.
