RAMALLAH, Friday, July 12, 2019 (WAFA) – Russian President Vladimir Putin told President Mahmoud Abbas during a phone call today that economic support may not come as an alternative to a political solution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Putin was referring to the recent US-sponsored Manama Workshop and the Donald Trump peace initiative, better known as the "deal of the century".
He added that a solution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict can only be achieved through the resolutions of the international community, but said he was keen to continue working with the United States and Israel to reach a two-state solution.
During the phone call, President Abbas discussed the latest political developments in the Middle East, including the position towards the two-state solution and the intra-Palestinian reconciliation process.
The Russian President told his Palestinian counterpart he was looking forward to receiving him in Moscow for further talks on all issues.
