Israeli forces detain five Palestinians from Jenin

JENIN, Thursday, July 04, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces early Thursday detained five Palestinians from the northern West Bank district of Jenin, said the Palestine Prisoner‘s Society (PPS).

PPS confirmed that Israeli forces conducted a raid in Burqin town, southwest of Jenin, detaining two former prisoners.

Forces also detained two more during a predawn raid that triggered confrontations in the refugee camp of Jenin.

During ensuing confrontations, witnesses said, some local youngsters who protested the raid got suffocated due to inhaling the toxic gas fired at them by the soldiers.

Another Palestinian was rounded up from the city of Jenin.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
