HEBRON, Monday, January 28, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces seized on Monday electricity poles intended to supply power to areas south of Hebron in the south of the occupied West Bank and prevented crews from installing them, according to Fares Mujahid, director of Palestinian-owned South Electricity Company.
He told WAFA that Israeli forces provided cover for staff of the so-called Israeli Civil Administration, an arm of the military government, as they prevented company workers from installing the new poles and seized them.
He said the poles were intended to supply electricity from Beit Ula power station to the southern Hebron regions, which do not have any power supply.
The army claimed the area where the poles were being built is classified as C of the occupied West Bank and therefore jurisdiction is for the Israeli military government, which means Palestinians cannot do anything there without a permit, which is impossible to get.
