Israeli forces detain 21 Palestinians from West Bank

RAMALLAH, Monday, January 28, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Monday detained 21 Palestinians in multiple overnight raids across the West Bank, said the Palestine Prisoner Society (PPS).

Israeli military vehicles raided Jenin city and refugee camp where soldiers detained six Palestinians after ransacking their families’ houses.

During the overnight raid in Jenin city, soldiers stormed the office of the Popular Struggle Front (PSF), a political party.

PSF Secretary in Jenin Abdullah al-Issa told WAFA that soldiers smashed the main door of the PSF’s office, ransacking it and seizing computers.

Elsewhere in the northern West Bank, Israeli forces detained two Palestinians from Tubas city and three others from Tammun town, south of Tubas.

In Qalqilia district, Israeli forces conducted a raid into Kufr Qaddum town, east of Qalqilia city, thoroughly searching several houses and wrecking havoc inside. None was detained.

Coordinator of the Local Popular Resistance Committee Murad Ishteiwi slammed the raid as part of the Israeli repressive measures against the town following ongoing weekly marches.

Residents of Kufr Qaddum began staging protests in 2011 against land grab and the closure of the town’s southern road by Israeli forces. The road, which has been closed for 15 years, is the main route to the nearby city of Nablus, the nearest economic center.

In Ramallah and al-Bireh district, Israeli forces detained three Palestinians from Kufr Ni‘ma village, northwest of Ramallah, and two others from Sinjil town, northeast of Ramallah.

In Bethlehem district, forces conducted a raid into Beit Fajjar town, south of Bethlehem city, rounding up three Palestinians.

PPS reported in the statement a similar raid into the nearby village of al-Khader, resulting in the detention of a Palestinian.

Another was detained from the southern West Bank district of Hebron.
