JENIN, Friday, January 25, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities on Friday evening handed over the body of slain Palestinian man Hamdan al-Arda, 60, who was killed by Israeli forces on the in early December 2018.
Hamdan’s body was released by Israeli military and handed over to his family in at Salem military checkpoint, northeast of Jenin, after being withheld for almost 40 days without a reason.
Arda, who comes from the town Arraba in the West Bank, was shot dead by Israeli forces during a raid of Ramallah in early December. His body has since been withheld by the occupation forces.
Israeli authorities have escalated the policy of withholding Palestinian bodies killed by Israeli forces, claiming that funerals of Palestinians had provided grounds for “incitement” against Israel.
Dozens of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces are still withheld in Israeli mortuaries despite calls by human rights groups on Israel to release them.
