Trade balance down by 3% in November, says statistics bureau

 

RAMALLAH, Thursday, January 24, 2019 (WAFA) - The trade balance which represents the difference between exports and imports showed a decrease in trade deficit by 3% in November compared to October, but an increase by 14% compared to November 2017 and reached $398.8 million, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said on Thursday.

In its monthly report on preliminary results of the Palestinian registered external trade in goods, the PCBS said exports decreased in November by 3% compared to October, while it increased by 3% compared to November 2017 and reached $95.6 million.

Exports to Israel decreased in November by 6% compared to October and it represented 84% of total exports in November.

On the other hand, exports to other countries increased by 17% during the same period and reached $15.3 million.

Imports decreased in November by 3% compared to October, while it increased by 12% compared to November 2017 and reached $494.4 million.

Imports from Israel decreased by 7% in November compared to October and it represented 56% of total November imports. On the other hand, imports from other countries increased by 3% for the same period.
