Palestinian killed in Gaza by an Israeli artillery shell

GAZA, Tuesday, January 22, 2019 (WAFA) – A Palestinian identified as Mahmoud El-Abed Nabahin, 24, was killed on Tuesday in central Gaza from an artillery shell fired by Israeli tanks, according to medical sources.

The Ministry of Health said two others were injured, one of them reported in serious condition, and were taken to hospital for treatment.

A tank fired the shell at a location east of Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip killing one person and injuring two others, reported WAFA correspondent.

Israel claimed the attack came after a bullet allegedly fired from Gaza hit the helmet of an Israeli soldier injuring him lightly.

The shooting came as hundreds of Palestinians demonstrated near the Gaza border with Israel and hurled stones at soldiers on the other side of the fence.

In an earlier incident, a shot was fired at Israeli soldiers without causing any injury and the Israeli army responded by shelling a post in Gaza, also without causing any injury.
