NABLUS, Tuesday, December 11, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Tuesday detained a total of 28 Palestinians during multiple overnight raids across the West Bank, said the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
Israeli forces raided several Nablus-district villages and towns, including Tell and Urif, southwest and south of the city, detaining 11 Palestinians.
Elsewhere in the northern West Bank, Israeli military vehicles raided Tubas city, where soldiers detained four Palestinian brothers after breaking into their family’s house.
The raid sparked confrontation during which soldiers opened fire at local youths who attempted to block their passage.
Three protestors were injured with live rounds in their extremities and subsequently rushed to a hospital where medics described their injuries as light to moderate.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces conducted a raid into Illar town, northeast of Tulkarem, detaining a former prisoner.
Soldiers ransacked many Palestinian homes in Tulkarem city, Illar as well as Nur Shams refugee camp and Attil town, east and northeast of the city, and detained two more Palestinians.
In Qalqilia district, a similar predawn raid was reported in Azzun town, east of the city, where soldiers conducted wide-scale search campaign and detained a Palestinian.
This came as Israeli forces at Allenby border crossing, also known as King Hussein or al-Karameh crossing, rounded up a Palestinian on his way back from Jordan to the West Bank. The detainee is reportedly a resident of Burqin town, west of Jenin.
Five Palestinians were reportedly detained from the central West Bank district of Ramallah and al-Bireh.
In the southern West Bank, a raid was reported in Bethlehem, resulting in the detention of a Palestinian.
Soldiers also detained two Palestinians and seized cash and jewelry during raids across the southern West Bank district of Hebron.
Israeli forces frequently conduct large-scale overnight detention raids almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
According to Palestinian figures, some 6,500 Palestinians continue to languish in Israeli detention facilities, including scores of women and hundreds of minors.
