General Supervisor of official media condemns Israeli army raid of WAFA building

RAMALLAH, Monday, December 10, 2018 (WAFA) – Ahmad Assaf, General Supervisor of the official Palestinian media, condemned on Monday the Israeli army raid of WAFA news agency offices in Ramallah describing the act as a crime against the Palestinian media.

"This crime is another one in the series of crimes by the occupation forces against the official media," said Assaf in a statement to Palestine TV. "It will not prevent us from doing our work toward our people and to expose the occupation crimes to the world."

Dozens of heavily armed Israeli soldiers raided WAFA news offices in Ramallah on Monday and fired teargas inside the building causing suffocation and difficulty in breathing among the journalists who were inside the building. They soldiers also kept the journalists in one room as they took video tapes of the building‘s cameras.

Assaf said this attack against WAFA will not go by without a strong protest to all organizations in order to hold Israel accountable for its crimes, which he also said is proof that Israel does not give any regard to international conventions, United Nations resolutions and all laws that govern journalistic work around the world.

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate and the Ministry of Information have also condemned the raid at WAFA offices.
