RAMALLAH, September 16, 2018 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas Sunday met with UNRWA Commissioner-General Pierre Krähenbühl and briefed him on the latest developments and efforts exerted for the mobilization of financial support to bridge the agency‘s deficit.
During a meeting in the presidential headquarters in Ramallah, President Abbas stressed that all efforts and contacts are being made to ensure the success of the upcoming UNRWA donor nation conference scheduled to be held in New York later this month with the aim of tackling the agency‘s deficit.
President Abbas praised Krähenbühl’s positions which was reflected in his letter and speech at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, stressing the important role that UNRWA plays in providing services to the Palestinian refugees.
For his part, UNRWA’s Commissioner-General thanked President Abbas for his positions in support of the UN agency in order to ensure the continuity of the agency’s services, stressing that UNRWA will continue to play its role.
