LONDON, May 14, 2025 (WAFA) – British Minister for the Middle East Hamish Falconer said on Wednesday that Israel has the obligation to implement the set of provisional measures issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
In a statement on Gaza to the British House of Commons, Falconer called on Israel to “lift the block on aid entering Gaza now,” stressing that “Israel’s denial of aid is appalling.”
“Tonnes of food are currently sitting rotting at the Gaza/Israel border, blocked from reaching people who are starving,” he added.
Falconer noted that Israeli ministers have said that Israel’s decision to block this aid was a “pressure lever”, affirming that “this is cruel and it is indefensible.”
“Overnight yet more Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes,” he added, while reiterating that “This must end”.
Falconer pointed out that the lawsuit filed by South Africa against Israel in the ICJ on charges of genocide was still ongoing, noting that “we support the ICJ. We support its independence. The ICJ issued a set of provisional measures in this case and we support those measures.”
