JERICHO, September 15, 2018 (WAFA) – The border crossing between Jordan and the West Bank, known as Karameh or Allenby or King Hussein, will be closed most of Tuesday and all day Wednesday in both directions, Palestinian police said on Saturday.
Israel informed the Palestinians that the Karameh bridge crossing will be open around the clock on Sunday and Monday, but will shut down on Tuesday at 8 in the morning and remain closed to reopen on Thursday morning.
The closure marks Israel’s observance of Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement), one of the most sacred holidays in Judaism, which starts at sunset on Tuesday and ends at sunset the next day. Life in Israel comes to a standstill on this day as Jews observe this holy occasion with a fast.
