Fishermen detained by Israeli navy boats in northern Gaza shore

GAZA, September 13, 2018 (WAFA) – The Israeli navy detained on Thursday three fishermen and seized their boat while fishing in the northern Gaza shore, according to a local source.

Zakaria Bakr, a fisherman, told WAFA that Israeli navy chased a fishing boat with three fishermen on board outside the Gaza shore.

He said the navy opened fire toward the fishing boat before detaining the fishermen and seizing the boat and steering it to the Israeli port city of Asdod.

Israel restricts fishing in the northern Gaza Strip to three nautical miles only, which fishermen say is not enough to catch fish and make a living.
