RAMALLAH, September 9, 2018 (WAFA) – News about the US decision to cut financial aid to Palestinian hospitals in Jerusalem hit the front pages of the three Arabic Palestinian dailies on Sunday.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida, al-Quds and al-Ayyam said that the United States said it will cancel $20 million in aid to Palestinian hospitals in East Jerusalem. The US decision against the hospitals came only weeks after it announced that it will stop all $365 million in funds to the United Nations Palestine refugee agency, UNRWA, and another $200 million for economic and social projects for the Palestinians.

In response to the decision, the paper reported some of the reactions that came in criticism, some of which are by member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hanan Ashrawi, who said on Saturday that the US’ decision to cut $20 million from occupied East Jerusalem hospitals was an “act of political blackmail that goes against the norms of human decency and morality”.

Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said that a 16-year-old child who was shot and critically injured on Friday during protests at the Gaza border with Israel, died on Saturday of his wounds, the European Hospital in Rafah, southern Gaza.

Al-Quds reported that two teens from Gaza, who succumbed to their wounds, were laid to rest in Rafah, in southern Gaza Strip.

President Mahmoud Abbas met with Popular Resistance Committees in the presidential headquarters in the city of Ramallah, where he reaffirmed the fix political position in confronting all the conspiracies targeting Palestinians cause, according to al-Hayat al-Jadida.

Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said that more than dozens of international artists have called to boycott Eurovision Song Contest in Israel in 2019.
