RAMALLAH, September 6, 2018 (WAFA) – In a step seen to defy the Israeli High Court decision allowing the Israeli army to destroy the village of Khan al-Ahmar, east of Jerusalem, and displace its Palestinian residents, the Ministry of Education decided on Thursday to bring all area school students to study at Khan al-Ahmar’s only school.

The ministry said this step comes to show solidarity with the community of Khan al-Ahmar and to prove that the High Court’s decision was unjust and a violation of international laws that call for the right of children to pursue education in a safe and stable environment.

It said that it will provide the school with teachers and turn it into a central school for the whole area.

The school, which teaches at the elementary level, is the only school in the area and serves students from five area villages.
