RAMALLAH, September 4, 2018 (WAFA) – The Israeli army shooting and killing of a 27-year-old Palestinian in the southern West Bank city of Hebron was highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies on Tuesday.
The papers said soldiers opened fire and killed Wael Abdul Fattah Jabari at an army checkpoint near Kiryat Arba settlement. Jabari is married with two children, 6 and 4 years old, and lives few meters from the checkpoint where he was shot and killed.
The army left Jabari bleeding on the ground and prevented Palestinian medics from attending to him. The soldiers have also seized his body.
The three papers also reported on the Israeli demolition of four homes in al-Walaja, a village west of Bethlehem, under the pretext of building without permit.
They said Israeli settlers opened fire at a Palestinian home in Burqa, a village in the north of the West Bank.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said settlers have taken over a home in the old town of Hebron.
Al-Ayyam said Israel is planning to kick the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) out of occupied East Jerusalem and that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pushed US President Donald Trump to take the decision to stop funding UNRWA.
It said in response to the actions against UNRWA that Lebanon will not allow resettling of Palestinian refugees in its land.
Al-Quds said US envoy Jason Greenblatt published a report in an Israeli paper in which he incited against the Palestinian people, their leadership and rights.
Al-Ayyam quoted Greenblatt saying that the Palestinian issue is not the core of the conflict in the region and that Israel is not the problem, rather it is part of the solution.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida quoted Fatah official Azzam Ahmad saying that President Abbas said he has full confidence in Egypt. He was referring to attempts by Egypt to reconcile the Palestinian ranks.
Al-Quds quoted Ahmad saying that three months after ending the division, the committee to reactivate the Palestine Liberation Organization will convene.
