JERUSALEM, September 3, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli police detained on Monday five Palestinian residents of al-Thuri, an East Jerusalem neighborhood, including the son of the newly appointed governor of the city, Adnan Gheith, after raiding his home, according to a local information center.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center said a police force raided the governor’s home and neighborhood in the early hours to detain his son and four others.
Gheith was sworn-in on Friday by President Mahmoud Abbas as the new governor of the occupied city and area villages replacing Adnan Husseini, who remains as Palestinian cabinet Minister of Jerusalem Affairs.
The Information Center said the police ransacked Gheith’s home and the others before detaining the five youths.
