RAMALLAH, August 30, 2018 (WAFA) – The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bakir Izetbegovic, took a short tour of the city of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank on Thursday, walking its streets where he got to try the Palestinian falafel and eat its famous Rukab ice cream.

In addition to the falafel and ice cream, Izetbegovic tried Palestinian-made “manakeesh” - bread baked with zaatar (thyme) and Palestinian olive oil - before watching the musical fountain at Ramallah City Hall park.

The Bosnian leader expressed to WAFA his fascination with the city, the de facto capital of the Palestinian Authority and base of its president, government and parliament, despite all the difficulties the Palestinians face because of the Israeli occupation.

“It is wonderful, vibrant and modern city,” he said.

By the end of the tour, Ramallah Mayor Mousa Hadid, who accompanied Izetbegovic on his tour along with other Palestinian officials, presented the Bosnian guest with a book about the city.

President Mahmoud Abbas received Izetbegovic at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah on Wednesday.

Izetbegovic also visited Jerusalem’s Old City on Wednesday afternoon and prayed at its Aqsa Mosque in the company of Palestinian clergy and officials.
