RAMALLAH, August 20, 2018 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas Monday expressed sorrow at the death of Israeli peace activist Uri Avenary, who died at 94 years of age.
President Abbas called Israeli leftist journalist Anat Saragosti, a very close associate of Avenary, to express his sorrow at the passing of the peace activist, the writer and veteran Israeli politician.
He said that Avenary will remain an icon of real and permanent peace in the region since he was one of the first to have strongly endorsed the establishment of the independent Palestinian state and called for ending the Israeli occupation of all of the Arab territory occupied in 1967.
The president called as well Latif Dori, another close associate of Avenary, to also express his sorrow for the death of Avenary.
